The Ministry of Pakistan has extended the deadline for investors to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) for FESCO’s privatization, moving it from July 7 to August 7, 2026.
FESCO is one of several state-run power companies being offered for partial or full sale under the government’s Batch-I DISCOs Privatisation Programme, with investors able to acquire between 51% and 100% shareholding plus management control.
This move is part of a big push to improve service delivery and attract private-sectors into Pakistan’s power distribution sector, and this process has been in discussion since the 1998 restructuring but hasn’t moved forward until now.

Tips To Reduce Your Electricity Bill
Electricity rates keep climbing, so small changes in daily habits can make a real difference on your FESCO bill. A few practical ones:
- Unplug chargers and appliances when not in use β many devices still draw power on standby.
- Set your air conditioner to 26Β°C instead of lower; each extra degree adds noticeably to your consumption.
- Switch to energy-efficient bulbs and appliances, such as fluorescent or LED lighting, instead of conventional bulbs.
- Shift heavier usage β running your AC, washing machine, or iron β outside FESCO’s peak hours listed below.
- Keep your wiring and appliances well-maintained; poorly maintained equipment often draws more power than it should.
FESCO Bill Peak Hours
Certain hours of the day see a significant spike in the cost per unit of electricity. If you want to avoid a large bill due to just a few of these peak hours, follow the tips provided above to help lower your electricity usage during these times.

|---|---|---|

Electrical Safety Measures for FESCO Consumers
We are all aware of the numerous accidents, including fatalities, caused by electricity. Whereas, electrical accidents are completely preventable in most cases, and a few basic habits go a long way.
- Always cut the power supply before handling metal appliances or doing any wiring work yourself.
- Make sure switches, plugs, and fuses match your system’s actual load β undersized fuses are a common cause of overheating.
- Keep circuit breakers in place for high-draw devices like air conditioners.
- Never leave wires exposed or run damp clothing over them.
- If your area sees frequent voltage fluctuations, an automatic voltage regulator is worth installing to protect appliances like your fridge or TV from damage.
Install TOU/TOD Meters
A TOU/TOD (Time of Use/Time of Day) meter is a specialized electricity meter provided by WAPDA for its customers. It promotes more efficient energy usage by dividing the day into specific time slots, such as peak and off-peak hours, each with different rates.
This system allows consumers to save money by using electricity during off-peak hours when rates are lower. If your current meter is not a TOU/TOD meter, you can apply for a conversion or request a FESCO new connection.

Pay Your FESCO Bill Online
FESCO offers customers multiple online payment options for paying their bills, including major mobile wallets and banking apps β JazzCash, Easypaisa, NayaPay, or your bank’s own app (HBL and others support this too). The process is largely the same across all of them: open the app, go to the Bills or Utility Payments section, select “Electricity” and search for FESCO, then enter your reference number. Confirm the bill details shown match your actual bill, then complete the payment.
Credit card payment works the same way through your bank’s app or online portal β just select “Credit Card” as the payment method at the confirmation step. Make sure you have a stable connection before confirming any payment, since interrupted transactions can sometimes cause double charges.
